Austell Glimepiride is used as an adjunct to exercise and diet to lower blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose high blood sugar cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone[3]. It works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, helping the body reduce blood sugar levels more effectively[2].
Austell Glimepiride is not indicated for treating type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. It should also be avoided in patients with certain contraindications such as hypersensitivity to glimepiride or sulfonylureas, as well as in those with severe liver or kidney impairment, pregnancy, lactation, or in children[3].
