Cyfil 5 is a brand containing tadalafil 5 mg, which is primarily used for the treatment of two main conditions in adult men: erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).[1] Tadalafil belongs to a class of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
Main uses of Cyfil 5 (tadalafil 5 mg):
- Erectile dysfunction (ED): Tadalafil helps increase blood flow to the penis, allowing men with ED to achieve and maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity.[1] It can be taken daily as a low-dose tablet to support sexual spontaneity, rather than timing a dose right before sexual intercourse.[2]
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Tadalafil is also prescribed for men with symptoms of BPH, such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination (especially at night), and a weak urine stream.[5] The once-daily 5 mg dose can improve urinary symptoms by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate.[1]
- Combination of ED and BPH: For men who experience both erectile dysfunction and urinary symptoms of BPH, tadalafil 5 mg daily offers a dual benefit.[6]
Additionally, in certain cases and under medical supervision, tadalafil can be prescribed for pulmonary arterial hypertension or other off-label uses, but the 5 mg daily dose is most commonly used for ED and BPH in the general adult male population.[2]
