Scheriproct ointment is primarily used for the treatment of haemorrhoids (piles), tears of the anal tissue (anal fissures), and similar conditions affecting the anal area[1][3][8]. The ointment contains two active ingredients: prednisolone hexanoate, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, and cinchocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic that relieves pain and itching[2][3][5]. By combining anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic effects, Scheriproct ointment provides relief from symptoms such as swelling, itching, soreness, and pain associated with piles and anal irritation[3][5].
The ointment is applied topically in a thin layer to the affected area, typically twice daily, although more frequent applications (up to four times on the first day) may be recommended for rapid symptom relief[5][7]. It is most effective when used after a bowel movement, and both external and internal application methods are described in the patient information leaflet[5].
